The Cat in the Hat (Audio)

Audio Book

The Cat in the Hat is a classic. The story of two children stuck at home on a wet day with nothing to do. The children are staring out a window and wondering how to pass the time, when suddenly they hear a noise and in comes the Cat in the Hat. The Cat entices the children to do things, and play with things that they know they should not. Their pet fish tries to warn them, but the Cat just won't stop introducing new, terrible ideas. Eventually the house is a disaster, things are broken and ruined and then mom is about to walk in. The Cat quickly utilizes his tools to tidy the house back up and by the time mom walks in, the house is in good order and the children are back sitting in chairs staring out the window as if nothing ever happened. The children wonder whether or not they should explain all their shenanigans to their mom and at the end, they pose the question, What would you do?

This audio book is a must have! It is a fun read along, lots of rhyming words in a story full of imagination. I believe this audio book would be best suited for 1st - 3rd graders. It could be used to illustrate rhyming and also for discussions about whether or not this story could be real or only imaginative.
